Since June 2015 – these individual Unit Standards are no longer available as Stand Alone Units. Learners already registered onto them prior to 2015 have 2 years to complete the program. NEW Learners will do the exact same content as listed in these Units, but will do them as part of the Generic Adventure Site Guide Skills Program.

Paddling Based

In addition to the Generic Adventure Site Guide program, there is one Paddling specific course that can be achieved. This can either be done as Stand-Alone, provided you do not need to register as a professional guide, or can be used to prove your technical competence in an activity for the Generic Adventure Site Guide program, which will allow registration as a guide.

This speciality is:

  • 12124 – Conduct a guided paddling experience

The Generic Adventure Site Guide program (GASG) may be used to qualify in any adventure based activity, but this specific additional qualification can be used for those who would like a specific technical certificate which is registered with the SA Qualifications Authority.

People in particular who do not guide professionally, but who would like proof of competence could use these to fill this need.
